Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPENG has selected Ohme as its official home-charging partner in the UK, as part of a broader effort to simplify electric car ownership. The agreement, announced in July 2025, includes the supply of smart chargers, installation services and customer support with every new vehicle purchase.

Under the partnership, XPENG’s retail network will receive training from Ohme on charger installation and energy tariff options. The move aims to address a key barrier for new EV buyers by simplifying the process of installing chargers and securing cheaper off-peak electricity rates.

Ohme’s devices feature 4G connectivity and enable automated charging based on real-time electricity prices. This allows customers to lower their charging costs and helps ease pressure on the national grid during peak hours.

“We are delighted that we will be partnering with Ohme as our exclusive home-charger supplier,” said William Brown, marketing director at XPENG UK. He cited Ohme’s dynamic charging capabilities, mobile app and customer service as key reasons for the partnership.

For Ohme, the deal strengthens its presence in the fast-growing EV market. Analysts expect the agreement to support further sales growth as manufacturers increasingly combine vehicle and charger offerings to attract buyers in a competitive sector.

The partnership also provides new opportunities for XPENG retailers, who will benefit from additional training and marketing materials. Buyers will receive a streamlined service with the option to claim up to £350 under the UK government’s home-charger grant scheme.

Despite the incentives, industry observers note possible risks including installation backlogs and varying home electrical standards. Still, both companies are betting on rising EV demand and greater use of smart charging to deliver continued growth in the UK market.
